The TOTAL Solar Eclipse of April 8, 2024
Is a 'Once-in-a-Lifetime' Event
Totality begins at 2:04 pm EDT **

You can watch the Event live by wearing special protective glasses as the Shadow of Totality traverses across Western NY, the Northern Finger Lakes, Thousand Islands, and Adirondacks on its way to New England and Canada.
The last Total Solar Eclipse in NY State was over 100 years ago, and occurs when the Moon passes directly between the Sun & Earth - completely blocking out the Sun's rays for several minutes.
All of NY State will be able to see some portion of the Eclipse, but shaded areas on the Map (left, courtesy of www.eclipse2024.org ) represent the spectacular Path of Totality.
** If you're planning an 'Eclipse Party' in an area close to the Path of Totality, early reservations for lodgings (of all kinds) are recommended. Outdoor activities, planetarium expos & more are expected to draw visitors from around the Country and the World.
