Separated from the state of Pennsylvania by the Delaware River, Delaware County is the largest and most western of the four counties in the Catskill Mountain offering beauty, adventure and an abundance of activities all year round. Here you will find gentle mountains, river valleys and reservoirs to enjoy activities like hunting, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, horseback riding, hiking and more. And from major festivals to small live performances, there is always something going on for everyone of all ages.
Whether you like the challenge of a steep incline or simply prefer a leisurely stroll to take in the mountain air, Delaware County has the right trail for you. The Andes Rail Trail is a perfect example of an easily accessible hiking trail in an idyllic setting, suitable for individuals of all ages while also offering the more demanding Bullet Hole Spur, taking serious hikers through mature hardwood forest, open woodlands and an old pine plantation.
Bask in the unmatched scenic beauty of the county at unique vantage points like the Mount Utsayantha Fire Tower or aboard the Delaware Ulster Railroad (Please note: The railroad is temporary closed in 2022 as they work on renovations). Visit one of the numerous parks for even more fun activities like camping, kayaking and fishing in the summer or skiing and snowshoeing when the snow flies.
And to sate your appetite after a day of fun and adventure, Delaware County serves up traditional cuisine like burgers and pizza along with classic country BBQ to just-off-the-farm fresh fare. Want something different? Specialty restaurants dot the county featuring authentic international flavors from Germany and Italy to the southern coast of Europe and even Tibet!
As the sun sets on your day, step into the exciting nightlife before settling into a luxurious resort, cozy B&B or country inn or even a glamping experience in a yurt or tipi.
Options abound in Delaware County and you are warmly and enthusiastically invited to try them all!
