Greater Binghamton has the diversity you have been looking for in a travel destination, offering fun, culture and excitement for everyone – no matter what the age!

Situated in New York’s Southern Tier region near the Pennsylvania border, Binghamton is the principal city and cultural center of the Binghamton metropolitan area, also known as Greater Binghamton.

Dubbed the “Carousel Capital of the World,” Binghamton’s impressive collection of antique merry-go-rounds will delight both young and old. Travel the circuit from Memorial Day through Labor Day to enjoy an always free ride on these beautifully restored, historic carousels, some picturesquely seated within the city limits in lovely parks as well as the Binghamton Zoo and others within the nearby tri-city parks.

Take a stroll through any of Binghamton’s downtown streets to absorb the culture and history that defines this amazing city, thanks in large part to Binghamton’s greatest manufacturers, Endicott-Johnson and IBM, which spurred the city’s economic prosperity for much of the 20th century. Amid the city’s historic architecture, downtown Binghamton boasts a large cluster of art galleries and shops, stately homes, several gold-domed ethnic churches and the popular Antique Row, a series of antique shops that line the city’s main drag.

But there is so much more. Catch a AA baseball or professional hockey game, open up your family’s imagination at the Discovery Center of the Southern Tier, attend one of the city’s numerous festivals or enjoy an afternoon on one of more than a dozen well-appointed golf courses that have hosted PGA tours.

Slow your pace to drop a line or just relax and take in the beauty of the pristinely landscaped Confluence Park, the spot where two of Binghamton’s rivers meet, making it a popular kayak and canoe launching spot. While there, jump on Binghamton’s River Walk, which connects to with Cheri Lindsey Park via a 1.5-mile paved trail.

After a day of exploration, tempt your palate with award-winning ales and bizarre-yet-delicious brews along with a wide variety of dining options from casual to fine dining. And any visit to Binghamton is not complete until you try the city’s specialty – the tender, mouthwatering and flavorful Spiedie sandwich.
