Oswego is bringing back the Oswego Sunset Concert Series at Breitbeck Park. The series, which dates back to 1935, will move from the city bandstand to the pavilion in Breitbeck Park. Every Wednesday night during the concert series, attendees will get to hear their favorite big band and jazz compositions. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Concerts are free and open to the public.

Never before presented for Saratoga audiences, the series will feature an ensemble of 15 NYCB dancers performing excerpts from Apollo, Jewels, Fancy Free, A Midsummer Night's Dream and more, alongside live piano accompaniment and insights from Principal Dancers. All programs will be 75 minutes long with no intermission. This series will be presented in lieu of the full company's traditional summer residency in a joint decision made by NYCB and SPAC due to the ongoing health and safety concerns around the COVID-19 pandemic.

The home of peppermint oil, this small hometown festival in Lyons has been growing each year and features vendors, food, a parade and a huge firework show on Saturday evening.

The Peppermint Story:
In 1839, Hiram G. Hotchkiss founded The Hotchkiss, International Prize Medal, and Essential Oil Co. in Lyons and by 1844 Hotchkiss, employed more than 100 people and produced more than 1,000 pounds of oil annually. By 1860, Mr. Hotchkiss produced more than 1/3 of the Peppermint Oil in the United States and owned over 100 acres of Peppermint fields in Lyons. Mr. Hotchkiss was so internationally renowned as the leader of the peppermint oil industry that he was often called the Peppermint King!

ZooBrew is the only happy hour in town where you help save elephants from extinction just by attending! This year portion of each ZooBrew ticket goes to the International Elephant Foundation (IEF), an organization committed to creating a sustainable future for elephants worldwide.

Presented by the Greater Newark Chamber of Commerce, this summer concert series offers free live music from 6-8 pm every Friday evening (weather permitting). This popular band started out in the mid 60s with Henry Viniski on lead guitar/vocals, Terry Featherly on rhythm guitar, Fud Comstock on bass and Bob Straubing on drums/vocals. When Henry passed away, the band regrouped for a benefit for his family. Bob took over lead/vocals and they added H. DeRue as drummer. The H. Lee White Maritime Museum at Oswego will host the eighth annual Oswego Paddlefest Saturday, July. 17th. Kayakers, canoeists and stand-up paddleboarders are encouraged to enjoy and appreciate the unique beauty of the historic Oswego River & Canal by “locking through” four canal locks. There will be two launch points again this year. Both courses will end at Wrights Landing Marina in Oswego. The long course, geared for experienced paddlers, is approximately 13 miles and launches from Indian Point Park on NYS Rte. 481 in Fulton. Paddlers will launch for the long course between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m. The short course is approximately 5.5 miles and launches from Minetto Riverview Park on NYS Rte. 48 from 8 to 9 a.m.

The home of peppermint oil, this small hometown festival in Lyons has been growing each year and features vendors, food, a parade and a huge firework show on Saturday evening.

The Peppermint Story:
In 1839, Hiram G. Hotchkiss founded The Hotchkiss, International Prize Medal, and Essential Oil Co. in Lyons and by 1844 Hotchkiss, employed more than 100 people and produced more than 1,000 pounds of oil annually. By 1860, Mr. Hotchkiss produced more than 1/3 of the Peppermint Oil in the United States and owned over 100 acres of Peppermint fields in Lyons. Mr. Hotchkiss was so internationally renowned as the leader of the peppermint oil industry that he was often called the Peppermint King!

Chromatic Scales: Psychedelic Design from the Tang Teaching Museum Collection features more than thirty recently acquired 1960s San Francisco psychedelic rock concert posters designed by artists such as Jim Blashfield, Lee Conklin, and Bonnie MacLean, and the Big Five’s Wes Wilson and Victor Moscoso. The collection, which will be on view in SPAC’s new “The Pines” facility lobby, features major bands such as The Doors, Jefferson Airplane, and Van Morrison and the era’s legendary venues The Matrix, Avalon Ballroom, and Fillmore Auditorium. Chromatic Scales is curated by the Tang in coordination with Christopher Shiley, Senior Director of Artistic Planning at SPAC.

Dozens of antique and classic boats and motors will be on display in the water and on land, plus concerts, a boat parade, a photo-shoot cruise and more. This year’s show features a visit by the Pat II, which delivered mail to summer residents along the shores of Skaneateles Lake from 1956 to 1991. Pat II has undergone extensive restoration at the Finger Lakes Boating Museum and is now one of the few all-electric passenger vessels in the country. Organized by the Finger Lakes Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society and the Skaneateles Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation. Free admission. 3 p.m. to dusk Friday, 9 a.m. to dusk Saturday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.

Chromatic Scales: Psychedelic Design from the Tang Teaching Museum Collection features more than thirty recently acquired 1960s San Francisco psychedelic rock concert posters designed by artists such as Jim Blashfield, Lee Conklin, and Bonnie MacLean, and the Big Five’s Wes Wilson and Victor Moscoso. The collection, which will be on view in SPAC’s new “The Pines” facility lobby, features major bands such as The Doors, Jefferson Airplane, and Van Morrison and the era’s legendary venues The Matrix, Avalon Ballroom, and Fillmore Auditorium. Chromatic Scales is curated by the Tang in coordination with Christopher Shiley, Senior Director of Artistic Planning at SPAC.
Open to the public July 19 – 30, 12 – 5 PM daily, check in at the Route 50 entrance.
