The “Godmother of Soul,” one of the most influential voices in the Rhythm and Blues, Pop and Soul musical genres, is coming back to the Great New York State Fair. Patti LaBelle will perform on Women’s Day, August 31 at 6 p.m. at Chevy Court. Patti LaBelle’s storied career has spanned six decades. A triple threat, she is a singer, actress, and a writer. Patti first rose to fame in the 1960s as lead singer of the vocal group, Patti LaBelle and the Bluebelles (later, their name changed to Labelle), best known for the number-one sensation, “Lady Marmalade.” From there, Patti’s solo music career churned out hits including, “You Are My Friend,” “New Attitude,” “Somebody Loves You Baby (You Know Who It Is)” and more, well into the 2000s. All concerts in the Chevrolet Music Series are free with Fair admission. Concerts at the Fair are sponsored by Chevrolet.
