Haunted Tours of Casey’s Cottage

In existence for more than 30 years, the Oswego Music Hall offers mostly acoustical musicians every other Saturday night from September to June. On concert evenings, a large empty hall is transformed into an intimate venue replete with candlelit tables, professional staging and sound; as well as an array of freshly baked desserts, hot cider and freshly brewed coffee.
This week, enjoy the sounds of renowned singer-songwriter John Gorka performs with opener Emalee Herrington. A Premier Racing event during the 40’s and 50’s, the Nickel Cup returns to Gananoque once again and you don’t want to miss it!

70 Hydroplanes compete for World Records on a surveyed course. These machines can fly at speeds up to 230km/hr! Drivers initially warm their engines and set their timing marks, vying to cross the start/finish line at full speed the second the five minute countdown clock hits zero. Boats then burst across the start line, creating a “flying start” not seen anywhere else in the sporting world. The boats fly around the course circuit for 8 km (5 miles), with the clock now counting up to the race time.

4 classes will be represented: 2.5 litre, Formula 2500, Hydro 350 and Grand Prix.

The course stretches along the St. Lawrence River from just off the docks at the Gananoque Inn to the Gananoque Municipal Arena. The best viewing for spectators will be from Joel Stone Heritage Park, adjacent to Water Street. The official clock will be located on the Thousand Islands Boat Museum’s new dock. Don’t forget to bring a lawn chair!

Collectors and farmers near and far come to display their tractors, old and new, antique hit-and-miss engines. New agricultural equipment and zero-turn lawn mowers are also on display for purchase. Join Clayton for a weekend of Jazz music and entertainment. Clayton Jazz Fest 2017 is excited to present two big events this fall for the Jazz Fest lineup. The first takes place over the weekend of September 22-24 when Clayton will be filled with the sounds of jazz throughout the village, highlighted by an entire afternoon of performances on Saturday Sep 23rd at the Frink Park Pavilion on the Saint Lawrence River.

The second Jazz Fest event takes place later this fall on October 21 when we will present the exciting afro-beat sounds of The Brighton Beat, returning for their 3rd year to Clayton. They will be performing at the Opera House and the audience will be part of a live recording for their next CD. Tickets are now on sale at the Clayton Opera House.

Sponsored by the Lioness Club of Central Square and supported by donations and help from local non-profits and churches, this apple festival is family-oriented and has been going strong for more than 30 years. Opening on Friday evening with amusement rides and games, the festival runs through the weekend and features food, live entertainment, pony rides, demonstrations, apple treats and approximately 300 crafts, vendors, non-profit organizations and entertainers. 100% of the proceeds are donated back into our local communities.

Join Clayton for a weekend of Jazz music and entertainment. Clayton Jazz Fest 2017 is excited to present two big events this fall for the Jazz Fest lineup. The first takes place over the weekend of September 22-24 when Clayton will be filled with the sounds of jazz throughout the village, highlighted by an entire afternoon of performances on Saturday Sep 23rd at the Frink Park Pavilion on the Saint Lawrence River.

The second Jazz Fest event takes place later this fall on October 21 when we will present the exciting afro-beat sounds of The Brighton Beat, returning for their 3rd year to Clayton. They will be performing at the Opera House and the audience will be part of a live recording for their next CD. Tickets are now on sale at the Clayton Opera House.

Grab some friends and a flashlight and challenge the Amazing Maize Maze by night. Long Acre Farms’ Amazing Maize Maze, which opened in 1998, was New York State’s first corn maze and is one of the longest running mazes in the world. This maze is one of the more challenging ones with the average completion time of 90 minutes. The moonlight maze opens at 6 p.m. and sells tickets for entry until 9 p.m. with the maze closing at 11 p.m.

The 21st Annual Salmon River Hatchery Open House and Family Day offers families the opportunity for DEC-lead tours of the facility throughout the day, providing attendees with behind-the-scenes access to the hatchery's inner-workings.

The popular fish ladder will also be on display, offering the opportunity to view salmon as they migrate and children will have the opportunity to learn to cast a fishing rod, tie flies, participate in a laser shooting range, observe the aquatic life of Beaverdam Brook, learn about rare and threatened fish species in New York State and more.

In existence for more than 30 years, the Oswego Music Hall offers mostly acoustical musicians every other Saturday night from September to June. On concert evenings, a large empty hall is transformed into an intimate venue replete with candlelit tables, professional staging and sound; as well as an array of freshly baked desserts, hot cider and freshly brewed coffee.
This week, enjoy the sounds of renowned singer-songwriter David Roth and Reggie Harris. Roth's music has made it to Carnegie Hall, the United Nations, several Chicken Soup for the Soul books, the Kennedy Center, NASA's Space Shuttle "Atlantis", Peter, Paul, & Mary and Kingston Trio CDs, and 13 of his own CD's.

Oswego Porchfest Musical Event

Oswego, NY will host its third annual PorchFest on Sunday September 24, 2017 from 1-5PM in the Historic Districts of West/Franklin and Montcalm Parks. This is a family-friendly community building event where last year two thousand plus people enjoyed strolling through the historic neighborhoods and parks listening to a variety of music in an open-air setting.

Musicians, theater troupes and other artists donate their time and talent, performing in local parks and on the porches and yards of the area's generous hosts . A schedule of the performers and the times and locations, as well as an interactive map, will be posted here and on the Oswego PorchFest FaceBook page.

Experts claim that the ghost of reputed psychopath William Fee (the only person ever executed in Wayne County, NY) roams the countryside every autumn, revisiting the scene of his murderous rampage.

This annual spook-event takes you down a desolate road, winding through eerie acres of apple orchards into the deep, dark woods. Attracting more than 20,000 people each year, this frightful event also features the Screamatorium, constructed on the actual burial ground from the “Harvest Night slaughter of 1859,” the Spinning Tunnel, the 3D Maze and the Mummy Theater.

The Hayride and Screamatorium are not recommended for children younger than 8 years of age.

CNY Pumpkin Festival

Pumpkin growers from throughout New York State bring their giant pumpkins to see who will capture the prize for the heaviest pumpkin at the CNY Great Pumpkin Festival.

This family friendly event fills Washington Square Park with games and rides for the kids, craft vendors, great food and live entertainment both days! Giant Pumpkins on site Saturday only. This years event takes place Sept 30th and Oct 1st in Oswego NY at East Washington Park 11-6pm.

The Cazenovia Art Trail is a self-guided tour of working artists and their studios in the village and surrounding countryside of Cazenovia. It's a unique opportunity to meet painters, sculptors, potters, photographers and crafts people in their studios where they bring their works to life. Visitors will experience a diverse collection of artists and their works as well as nature’s display of fall colors in and around Cazenovia. The event is free and open to the public and you can download a map of the Art Trial on their website.
