Brotherhood Winery introduced its first commercial vintage in 1839 and is commonly acknowledged to be the oldest operating winery in the United States. The winery was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.
Along with a variety of wines including cabernet sauvignon, pinot noir, merlot, chardonnay, Riesling and a white zinfandel, the winery produces specialty wines, including one flavored with ginseng, a May wine with sweet strawberry flavors and a version similar to mead.
Tours and tastings are available and the winery invites you to explore its vast network of underground cellars that were excavated by hand in the late 19th century. These dimly lit cellars house more than two hundred oak barrels and feature a crested vault containing some of the oldest vintages in America.
The winery also has a gift shop, café and banquet/wedding facility in a 19-century historic stone building.
