Once an active water pumping station, the Albany Heritage Area Visitors Center is now open seven days a week as a staffed tourist information center for the City of Albany. The Visitors Center has an information desk and a variety of permanent displays exploring the history of Albany from 1609 to present day as well as the USS Albany Heritage Exhibit featuring ships named for the capital city from 1846 to the present.
 

The Visitors Center is also home to the Henry Hudson Planetarium. The center has exhibit space that regularly hosts new artists and a gift shop that features handmade gift items by local artisans.
