Explore Lowville - in the Western Adirondacks Using Our Interactive Map
Nestled in the Black River Valley between the foothills of the Western Adirondack Mountains and the Tug Hill Plateau, Lowville is the economic hub of Lewis County. This mainly agricultural region has a long history of farming and includes a number of businesses and manufacturing plants, including Kraft Foods — the largest cream cheese manufacturing plant in the world.

But Lowville is more than its expansively beautiful farmlands – it is also an outdoor playground all year round.

Hike Whitaker Park’s wooded trails with overlooks offering striking views of pristine waterfalls and gorges or camp, hike or cross-country ski in Whetstone Gulf State Park’s  2,100 acres, built in and around a three-mile-long gorge providing one of the most spectacular scenic vistas east of the Rocky Mountains.
