Billed as America’s first and oldest state fair, more than a million people experience this affordable, 18-day celebration each year. The Great NYS Fair showcases thousands of animals including a petting zoo, hundreds of commercial attractions, more than 60 exciting midway rides and scores of fun and competitive games.

Two of fair's the biggest draws are its famous themed "Butter Sculpture” and itslineup of nationally known entertainers during the event. Also known for its tasty and innovative food options, the fair is host to more than 200 food vendors along with a food truck competition featuring 40 different food trucks over two days.

The Oak Ridge Boys, whose distinctive harmonies and upbeat songs have taken them all the way to the top of the charts and to the Country Music Hall of Fame, return to Chevy Court at the Great New York State Fair Tuesday, September 1 at 2 p.m. as part of the Chevrolet Music Festival.

It’s their 9th appearance at the Fair. Their performance is on the final Senior Day, which offers free admission to anyone age 60 and up. All performances at Chevy Court and the New York Experience Stage are free with Fair admission.

Sheena Easton, the singer whose songs and collaborations with artists such as Prince dominated top 40 radio in the 1980s, will perform as part of the Chevrolet Music Festival at Chevy Court during the 2020 Great New York State Fair. Easton will perform on Wednesday, September 2 at 2 p.m. The Scottish-born winner of two Grammy awards performed at the Fair in a 2005 concert on Chevy Court.

Concerts at Chevy Court are sponsored by Chevrolet and are free with admission to the Fair.

"Captain A Ship" Maze Quest: Hidden in the maze are 8 stations each representing a components of an 18th-century ship. Players are given a Quest Card to collect a stamp from each station. It takes perseverance and skill to find all the objects. Great fun for all ages!

Rock icon Joan Jett and her band The Blackhearts will provide the final performance of the Chevrolet Music Festival with a 6 p.m. show Labor Day, September 7, on the Chevy Court stage of the 2020 Great New York State Fair.

Joan Jett is an originator, an innovator, and a visionary. As the leader of the hard-rocking Blackhearts, with whom she has become a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, she’s had eight platinum and gold albums and nine Top 40 singles, including the classics "Bad Reputation," "I Love Rock 'N' Roll," "I Hate Myself For Loving You," and "Crimson and Clover."

Her independent record label, Blackheart, was founded in 1980 after she was rejected by no less than 23 labels. Blackheart is one of the longest running indie labels and continues to give voice to new bands. As a producer, she has overseen albums by Bikini Kill, Circus Lupus, as well as the Germs' LA punk masterpiece, 'GI.' Jett’s music has become a permanent force in mainstream culture.

Jett and the Blackhearts continue touring the globe with headline shows alongside fellow rock icons like The Who, Green Day and the Foo Fighters. Additionally, Jett has acted and appeared in movies, television and theater. Jett was also able to see her story told in ‘The Runaways', starring Kristen Stewart as Jett and Dakota Fanning as Currie. Jett was close to the project, serving as executive producer. “Bad Reputation,” a documentary about Jett's life, premiered to critical acclaim at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival.

Every August, emerging young professionals and celebrated artists from around the world retreat to Lake George, NY for the Lake George Music Festival. A beloved annual event, this year we are bringing the mystery of the night forest to you live at home! While our trails close at dusk, life in The Woods just starts to stir when the sun goes down. Join our education team as they show you live footage of the exciting and mysterious nocturnal world of Baltimore Woods and take your questions at an event for all ages! Using flashlights, black lights, and no lights at all, we’ll have engaging demonstrations that challenge you to put your senses to the test and observe the wonder of things we can’t see in the dark. We’ll wrap up our explorations with s’mores and stories around a campfire – you can be a part of a virtual community fire ring by logging in from the side of your own backyard campfire at home! Don’t miss your chance to experience this live virtual event!

Every August, emerging young professionals and celebrated artists from around the world retreat to Lake George, NY for the Lake George Music Festival. The maze is divided into two phases so you can customize your experience.

Kiddie Maze: A short maze specially designed for our youngest visitors is a fun introduction to corn mazes. This maze has twists and turns but no dead ends. Recommended for children up to age four with adult supervision.

"Captain A Ship" Maze Quest: Hidden in the maze are 8 stations each representing a components of an 18th-century ship. Players are given a Quest Card to collect a stamp from each station. It takes perseverance and skill to find all the objects. Great fun for all ages!

Kiddie Maze: A short maze specially designed for our youngest visitors is a fun introduction to corn mazes. This maze has twists and turns but no dead ends. Recommended for children up to age four with adult supervision.

"Captain A Ship" Maze Quest: Hidden in the maze are 8 stations each representing a components of an 18th-century ship. Players are given a Quest Card to collect a stamp from each station. It takes perseverance and skill to find all the objects. Great fun for all ages!

September 26 is National Ghost Hunting Day and in honor of that day, ghost hunting teams and haunted properties around the globe will be participating in the fifth annual World’s Largest Ghost Hunt event. Though it will look a little different this year due to COVID-19, there is still a large ensemble of ghost hunting teams and haunted locations that will simultaneously take part in a night of paranormal investigations in the most haunted public places throughout the WORLD. // Admission is $45 per person and participants will be meeting at the Alling Coverlet Museum, 122 William St., Palmyra for a briefing at 7 pm and will split into teams from there to investigate Historic Palmyra’s five museums. Experience is not necessary, but an open mind is a must! Believe it or not, every year thousands of monarch butterflies undertake an epic journey which spans much of the continent and involves many generations of butterflies. Tune in to this virtual program and follow five monarch generations as they take part in this magnificent journey! When you register, we’ll ask you to provide the email you’d like to use to view the program. Then September 19th at 12pm, all registered participants will receive an email invitation from YouTube with a link to view the program directly from YouTube. Donuts are only made on the weekends!). Weekdays are free admission except for Columbus Day. Also featured are the Boo Barn and 5-acre corn maze and more, including the Witch's Brew Bar & Cafe open on Thursdays and Fridays.

Join us as we celebrate autumn through the photographic works of the Syracuse Camera Club. This two-part video series will feature the works of nearly 20 photographers who have captured nature in its most splendidly colorful season. The Syracuse Camera Club is a local member organization open to everyone who loves photography, from beginners to professionals to those who just enjoy seeing exciting images. All works from this collection can be purchased and a portion of the proceeds will benefit Baltimore Woods Nature Center.
