It’s hard to believe that Liberty, Audubon’s non-releasable Bald Eagle, has been at Audubon Community Nature Center for 20 years! Liberty was ACNC’s first Animal Ambassador, and her story has reached thousands of people across the region. She has inspired many who visit ACNC to learn more about eagles and their incredible recovery after being listed as an endangered species in 1978 as part of the Endangered Species Act.

Since arriving in 2002, Liberty has been one of Audubon’s most unique offerings. Most recently, she inspired the creation of the Pamela A. Westrom Wildlife Habitat which will soon house up to four non-releasable birds of prey. Audubon Community Nature Center believes that providing up-close experiences with live animals enhances educational experiences and also inspires life-long environmentalists. With the addition of these new birds, visitors will be able to compare and contrast a variety of species up close while enjoying programming. Join ACNC and some of Liberty’s new friends in the celebration! Tamarack Wildlife Rehabilitation Center will be on hand to talk about the current threats that eagles face. Children can help build an eagle sized nest, try out some life-sized eagle wings, or sit on some eagle eggs as they learn about these magnificent birds. A Bald Eagle ‘trivia trail’ will be set up that leads to ACNC’s Blue Heron Overlook. Spotting scopes and binoculars will be available for participants to use while looking out for the wild Bald Eagles that hunt on ACNC’s Big Pond.

James McMurtry w/s/g BettySoo

James McMurtry w/s/g BettySoo Time: 8:00 PM
Host/Presenter: Lark Hall
Location: 351 Hudson Ave, Albany, NY, 12210
Phone: 518-599-5804
Email: Jenn@Larkhallalbany.com
In James McMurtry’s new effort, The Horses and the Hounds, the acclaimed songwriter backs personal narratives with effortless elegance (“Canola Fields”) and endless energy (“If It Don’t Bleed”). This first collection in seven years, due August 20 on New West Records, spotlights a seasoned tunesmith in peak form as he turns toward reflection (“Vaquero”) and revelation ( closer “Blackberry Winter”). McMurtry recorded the new album with legendary producer Ross Hogarth (Ozzy Osbourne, John Fogerty, Van Halen, Keb’ Mo’) at Jackson Browne’s Groovemaster’s in Santa Monica, California, a world-class studio that has housed such legends as Bob Dylan (2012’s Tempest) and David Crosby (2016’s Lighthouse) as well as Browne himself for I’m Alive (1993) and New Found Glory, Coming Home (2006). Accordingly, the new collection marks another upward trajectory: The Horses and the Hounds will be McMurtry’s debut album on genre-defining Americana record label New West Records (Steve Earle, Rodney Crowell, Lucinda Williams, John Hiatt, Aaron Lee Tasjan, Buddy Miller, dozens more). //
“BettySoo may well have the most gorgeous voice in Texas …if not in all contemporary folk – its purity and strength can be downright devastating.” – ACOUSTIC GUITAR BettySoo’s vocal prowess is a thing of wonder. A world-class instrument of deft phrasing and purity, a voice that knows when to hold back and when to dive in. At her own live shows, taking a verse onstage with friends or singing harmonies in sessions with Austin’s finest, BettySoo sings with consummate loveliness and self-assurance. A voice that knows the roots of American music inside and out; coming from a most unexpected place – a diminutive Korean-American with a deceptively girl-next-door demeanor.

With music characterized by complex jazz-influenced structures and harmonies, Steely Dan's Donald Fagen and the late Walter Becker were famed for their cerebral, wry and eccentric lyrics.
