Built between 1804 and 1808, Boscobel House was originally the dream house of wealthy Loyalists. After it fell into disrepair in the 1950s, the home was demolished but preservationists saved as much of the architectural fragments as possible. It was then reassembled 15 miles north, where the Neoclassical mansion was restored back to—and even beyond—its original grandeur.

Today it is a national historic museum and displays one of the finest collections of decorative arts from the Federal period. Boscobel offers tours of the mansion as well as its 68 acres of it grounds, featuring lush gardens and a woodland trail.

Open Wednesday through Monday from mid-April to December, Boscobel also hosts events, innovative exhibitions, talks by the world’s top design experts, and programs and activities for families.
