Overlooking the Hudson River, the Washington's Headquarters State Historic Site is the oldest house in the city of Newburgh and nation's first publicly owned historic site.
Tour the rooms where George Washington lived while he was in command of the Continental Army during the final year of the American Revolutionary War; it had the longest tenure as his headquarters of any place he had used.
The site includes a museum, which houses an award-winning exhibit featuring more 1,300 objects highlighting Washington's Headquarters diverse collections. Visitors to the site may take a tour of the Tower of Victory, climbing the steps to the newly restored belvedere (access to the Tower may be limited based on staffing and weather conditions).
