Lyndhurst Mansion
Designed in 1838 by Alexander Jackson Davis, Lyndhurst Manor is one of America’s finest Gothic Revival mansions.
Designed in 1838 by Alexander Jackson Davis, Lyndhurst Manor is one of America’s finest Gothic Revival mansions. The estate was shaped over more than a century by three of its noteworthy residents, New York City mayor William Paulding, merchant George Merritt, and railroad tycoon Jay Gould.
The mansion’s architecture is complemented by the estate’s park-like landscape with its sweeping lawns and a comprehensive collection of original decorative arts.
Guided tours are offered of the 19 elaborately decorated rooms in the mansion interior along with special tours that explore unique spaces like the recently restored bowling alley, majestic landscape, kitchens, laundry room, and observation tower overlooking widest part of the lower Hudson River to Manhattan.
The estate also hosts events throughout the year.
