Built in 1721, the historic Jean Hasbrouck House is designated a National Historic Landmark and considered one of the best examples of colonial Dutch architecture in stone in the United States. It is one of 7 Huguenot homes on Historic Huguenot Street, a 10-acre National Historic Landmark District.
The house was built by Jean Hasbrouck's son Jacob on the same site his father built his home circa 1678. The Hasbroucks were Huguenots who fled persecution in France and co-founded New Paltz.
In 1899, the home was purchased by the organization known today as Historic Huguenot Society and has been used as a museum ever since. Guided tours are available to the public by appointment.
