The Woodstock Music and Art Festival, however, actually took place about 60 miles west on the 600-acre Yasker's dairy farm in the town of Bethel. The festival was called “Woodstock” because the investment group that backed the concert was called “Woodstock Ventures.”
But Woodstock today continues to hold onto that late 1960s hippie vibe, often said that “old hippies don’t die, they just go to Woodstock.” In this historic little hamlet, you will have no trouble finding a drum circle to join, reiki practitioners, yoga lessons, journal-writing classes and mind-body healers.
