Starr and Harriet Clark were prominent abolitionists who gave refuge to slaves in their home and in their neighboring tin shop from the mid-1830s to the Civil War.
The Starr Clark Tin Shop is a two-story wood-framed vernacular building built circa 1827 and the Clarks held abolitionist meetings and ran the tin shop in this building, which has been renovated to its original appearance.
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the museum features interpretive displays and exhibits on the Underground Railroad, abolitionist activity in Oswego County as well as tools and an exhibit on a working tin shop.
