The Seaway Trail’s thriving metropolis of Rochester is situated on the southern shore of Lake Ontario where the magnificent Genesee River – dubbed the city’s lifeline – ends its 160-mile journey into Lake Ontario, creating a captivating and spectacular waterfront for the city.

Whether you are traveling alone, with that special someone or with family, Rochester has something for every taste, including a vibrant nightlife, breweries and wineries, more than 12,000 acres of parks and over 60 golf courses.  Rochester is also host to more than 140 festivals and events each year, including classical music, professional sports and music and arts festivals as well as more than 100 family-friendly attractions. One you won't want to miss is the popular and longstanding Lilac Festival punctuating Rochester’s early history as the Flower City. More than a century old, the festival features 500 varieties of lilacs on more than 1,200 bushes and draws more than 500,000 people annually.

A historic center for civil rights and social justice, home to abolitionists Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony, drawing visitors from all over to such places as the Susan B. Anthony House and the 230-acre Mt. Hope-Highland Historic District, where both are laid to rest. And photography and history buffs alike will love The George Eastman Museum, the world’s oldest photography museum. Located on the estate of George Eastman, the historic mansion and gardens provide a glimpse into the life of one of the greatest American innovators.

And you will want to bring your kids! They will love the Strong/National Museum of Playhome to the National Toy Halls of Fame, and the Seneca Park Zoo, featuring the only African elephants, white rhinos, and Bornean orangutans in New York State. Add to all this Rochester's wide-ranging culinary scene and its notorious reputation as a shopper’s paradise and this city will delight and enchant everyone who visits!
