Ithaca Falls Natural Area
Cascading 150 feet and stretching nearly 175 feet across at its base, Ithaca Falls is breathtaking.
Cascading 150 feet and stretching nearly 175 feet across at its base, Ithaca Falls is breathtaking. And with towering sheer cliffs bordering the falls, the recently designated "Natural Area" that houses Ithaca Falls bordering it is an unexpected oasis within an urban setting.
Open year round, the waterfall takes on a different personality for each season, projecting a thunderous roar in the spring while bringing out the natural beauty of the rocks in the summer and autumn as the frothy water ebbs and brings a lower flow, becoming even more irresistible photographers and local students. This park also features ruins of 19th-century mills, areas for fishing and a quick, easy walk up to the falls. But it can be just as dangerous as it is beautiful, so swimming is prohibited and caution is advised at all times around the falls.
