Canastota’s International Boxing Hall of Fame is one of two recognized international boxing halls of fame, with the other being the World Boxing Hall of Fame.
A boxing hotbed for more than 100 years, Canastota has an illustrius boxing history that includes bare-knuckle boxers (1800s), high school boxing teams (1920s - 50s) and two welterweight champions, Carmen Basilio (1955-56, 1956-57) and Billy Backus (1970-71). Basilio also held the middleweight championship (1957-58).
The Hall offers exciting exhibits and hosts the Annual Hall of Fame Induction Weekend, a four-day festival in June.
