Matilda Joslyn Gage Foundation & House
Matilda Joselyn Gage Foundation keeps this important women's suffragist and abolitionist's spirit alive
The Matilda Joselyn Gage Foundation was founded in 2000 and is dedicated to educating everyone about this important abolitionist, women’s suffragist, historian, scholar, author and passionate advocator for social change.
Lesser known but equal in importance to Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Matilda Joslyn Gage was one of the most radical, far-sighted and articulate of the early feminists and her home served as a Stop on the Underground Railroad network.
An interesting side note is that Gage was also the mother-in-law of L. Frank Baum, the distinguished author who gave us “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.”
