The Art of Warner Bros. Cartoons at George Eastman Museum

The Art of Warner Bros. Cartoons at George Eastman Museum Host/Presenter: Curtis Theatre at George Eastman Museum
Location: 900 East Avenue, Rochester, NY, 14607
Phone: 1-585-271-3361
For more than 80 years, Warner Bros. animation has been bringing joy to all ages. Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies in particular gave us some of the most iconic animated characters—Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, Daffy Duck, Tweety Bird, and more.

Animation is a complex process: from concept to sketching, drawing, and coloring, all before filming even begins. In The Art of Warner Bros. Cartoons, take a peek behind the scenes at sketches, model sheets, paintings, and animation cels that went into creating the famous films from the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s.

The beginnings of animation—before Warner Bros. and even before film—is also explored through a selection of objects from the museum’s collection. In addition to the original artifacts in the galleries, the exhibition includes 15 Warner Bros. animated shorts, played on a loop in the Curtis Theatre during museum hours.

The lead single and title track, “Cry Pretty” debuted as the #1 song in the U.S. all-genres. The song also topped download charts in 38 countries around the world and amassed over 3.5 billion social impressions across 66 countries during its week of launch in April, which was culminated with a show-stopping performance on the “2018 ACM Awards” telecast. Carrie co-wrote the powerful single with Hillary Lindsey, Lori McKenna, and Liz Rose (aka The Love Junkies) and co-produced Cry Pretty with fellow writer/producer David Garcia.

Following her successful “The Storyteller Tour – Stories in the Round,” the new production will feature a brand-new stage in the middle of the arena floor, creating a unique 360-degree setting to allow fans on all sides of the arena an intimate view of the concert. Barry Lather (Rihanna, Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson) is the tour’s Creative Director, and Nick Whitehouse/Fireplay (Justin Timberlake, Beyonce) is Production Designer.

1984’s No Brakes, did exactly what the title inferred, barreling at runaway train speed to international acclaim and U.S. platinum success thanks to the smash hit, “Missing You,” which did not stop until it reached Number 1 on the Billboard’s Hot 100 Singles, Album Rock Tracks and Adult Contemporary charts. The following up single, “Tears” was a top 10 hit on the Billboard Mainstream Rock charts.

This the Lovin' Spoonful did like nobody before or since, putting their first seven singles into the Top 10.
