George Eastman Museum continues the colorful legacy and tradition of George Eastman, filling the conservatory and palm house with more than 2,000 tulips, hyacinths, daffodils, amaryllis, and freesias, in vibrant shades of white, yellow, rosy pink, soft orange, salmon copper, scarlet, plum, lavender and deep blue — the same colors Eastman featured 100 years ago. During Eastman's residency at the house between 1905 and 1932, he ordered tens of thousands of bulbs from Holland every year (except 1918, when a wartime coal shortage forced him to close his greenhouses) to decorate his Conservatory. The two-week display is a welcome treat for the eyes and nose in the midst of winter. Experience this splash of spring while visiting the stunning mansion.

February 29 – April 29, 2020
RECEPTION with music by jazz pianist David Spring | March 13th, 5-7 PM

Most of Elizabeth MacFarland’s recent paintings have been done within a few miles radius of where she lives in the northern Catskills. She finds inspiration and interest all around her without going far. In this way, Elizabeth practices standing still and learns to see the treasures of the natural world right in front of her. Elizabeth hopes that her paintings can serve as a window into the treasures we still have, and also perhaps as a call to protect those we are poised to lose.
A portion of all sales will benefit environmental causes.
