Located on the shores of Onondaga Lake, this unique museum spotlights the industry that gave rise to the city of Syracuse and at one time, supplied the entire nation with salt.

Constructed from timbers taken from actual salt warehouses, the museum boasts the actual kettles, wooden barrels and other equipment once used in this fascinating process before coming to an end in the 1920's. Along with these artifacts and dynamic exhibits, visitors will also be able to explore the site of an original boiling block where brine (salt water) was turned into what was then considered one of the country's most precious commodities
