Hudson Valley Rail Trail
Hike it or bike it, ride on horseback or roller blades or ski it cross-country style or on snow shoes in the winter – enjoy the trail any way you like!
Still in development, the Hudson Valley Rail Trail is a paved 4-mile east–west rail trail in the town of Lloyd in Ulster County stretching from the Hudson River through the hamlet of Highland. From the trail, look across at Illinois Mountain to see original rail bed from the 19th century and along the trail you will be able to visit an antique caboose.
The trail takes you by Black Creek, a trout stream where you can take a break to drop a line. Go a little further to enjoy ball fields, tennis and basketball courts, pavilions and restrooms at Tony Williams Park. This park currently ends the developed part of the site as the trail enters a mile-long arbor of dense trees and stunning scenery.
