Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village
The Museum's docents and volunteers provide a living history experience for visitors and other costumed interpreters
Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village is a 35-acre open-air museum dedicated to preserving the history the Town of Amherst, the village of Williamsville and the Niagara Frontier. It encompasses 12 historic buildings moved from their original site that include homes, two one-room schoolhouses, a barbershop, blacksmith and a church. There is also a main exhibit building, a collections storage facility, the Niederlander Research Library and a Country Store.
The Museum's docents and volunteers provide a living history experience for visitors and other costumed interpreters, including weavers, quilters, cabinetmakers, craftsmen and women, and dancers appear at events and festivals.
The 20,000-square-foot Shaw Exhibit Building is open all year while the historic buildings and grounds are closed November through April with the exception of special events.
