Just eight miles outside the village of Cooperstown, Glimmerglass State Park overlooks Otsego Lake, the “Glimmerglass” of James Fenimore Cooper's Leatherstocking Tales. The rolling, partially-wooded terrain boasts a wide variety of wildlife while an uphill trail through the forest affords a spectacular view of Otsego Lake.
 

The park encompasses the historic Hyde Hall Mansion, Hyde Hall Covered Bridge (the oldest existing covered bridge in the United States) and a self-guided Beaver Pond Nature Trail, which are all open to visitors.
 

Glimmerglass State Park offers a variety of amenities and activities including camping, a swimming beach, fishing areas, hiking trails, nature programs, playground and more. Winter in the park offers tubing, cross-country skiing, ice skating, showshoeing, snowmobiling, ice fishing, winter hiking. Household pets are welcome but must be leashed.
