Schodack Island State Park
Schodack Island State Park sits off the eastern shore of the Hudson River and is a designated State Estuary.
Schodack Island State Park sits off the eastern shore of the Hudson River just south of Albany and is a designated State Estuary. A portion of the park shelters a Bird Conservation Area (BCA) that is home to bald eagles, cerulean warblers and blue herons that nest in the cottonwood trees.
The park offers eight miles of multi-use trails through diverse ecological environments with interpretive signage highlighting the park's historic and environmental significance. Recreational activities abound with picnicking, fishing, hiking, biking in the summer and cross-country skiing and access to ice skating and snowshoe trail in the winter.
Camp sites are available for both tent, trailer and RVs. Other amenities include a bike trail, volleyball nets, horseshoe, playground and a kayak/canoe launch site.
Pets: Household pets only; caged or on a leash not more than 6 feet, proof of rabies vaccination required. Not permitted in buildings.

Hiking at Glens Falls Canal Trail
The last remaining original canal in New York State, the nine-mile trail begins at the Feeder Dam in Glens Falls and will bring you by a portion of the few remaining sections of the original 1820s canal system.
