Come to Herkimer and prospect for your very own world-famous Herkimer Diamond! Actually quartz crystals, the stones were faceted by nature half a billion years ago.

A fun activity for the kids, your admission to diamond hunt at this spectacular above-ground, surface mine includes an all-day prospecting wristband ticket, use of a rock hammer, all-day museum entrance, zip lock bags and mining information. And, you get to keep everything you find!

Here, you will also experience Upstate New York's largest jewelry store, museum, a fossil-and-gemstone sluicing area, and "Randy" the authentic dinosaur skull. Herkimer Diamond Mines also features a gift shop, on-site dining options and offers lodging in their KOA Campground or in one of their uniquely themed specialty lodges.
