The Fair showcases scores of exciting midway rides, thousands of animals, dozens of big-name entertainers, the fair’s famous "Butter Sculpture" and more!
Aug. 20 – Sept. 6, 2021: Each year at the end of August, nearly one million people travel to experience this 18-day, budget-friendly celebration of sumptuous food, educational and fun exhibits, captivating entertainment and more.
Billed as America’s first and oldest state fair, The Great NYS Fair has showcased thousands of animals over the years, including a petting zoo, hundreds of commercial attractions and scores of exciting midway rides and games. Two of the biggest draws are the fair’s famous "Butter Sculpture, ” a huge themed sculpture made entirely of butter, and their lineup of nationally known entertainers during the event. The fair’s main concert venue, Chevy Court, has hosted free exciting acts like The Steve Miller Band, Bruno Mars, REO Speedwagon, Lady Antebellum and so much more.
But the entertainment and rides are not the only reason people come to this family-friendly festival. The Fair is known for its tasty and unique food options and is host to more than 200 food vendors featuring the standard fare to the not-so-standard – some might even say wacky – food combinations like The Big Kahuna Donut Burger, Hot Beef Sundae, or bacon covered with crushed Doritos, deep fried and served with chipotle sauce! Then there are the delectable free samples of some of the best foods made in New York State at Taste NY in the horticulture building.
Add to this, jugglers, characters street entertainer, fine arts and vendors from all over the state bringing their wares and talents to the fair’s many competitions, and you will soon realize that one day just isn’t enough!
