Aug. 21 - Sept. 2, 2019: Each year at the end of August, nearly one million people travel to experience this 12-day, budget-friendly celebration of sumptuous food, educational and fun exhibits, captivating entertainment and more.

Billed as America’s first and oldest state fair, The Great NYS Fair is still going strong and showcases thousands of animals including a petting zoo, hundreds of commercial attractions and scores of exciting midway rides and games. Two of the biggest draws are the fair’s famous "Butter Sculpture” a huge themed sculpture made entirely of butter, and their lineup of nationally known entertainers during the event. The fair boasts several stages, including their popular Chevy Court with daily free performances. Click here to check out the complete music lineup for this year's fair.

But the entertainment and rides are not the only reason people come to this family-friendly festival. The Fair is known for its tasty and unique food options and is host to more than 200 food vendors featuring the standard fare to the not-so-standard – some might even say wacky – food combinations like The Big Kahuna Donut Burger, Hot Beef Sundae, or bacon covered with crushed Doritos, deep fried and served with chipotle sauce! Then there are the delectable free samples of some of the best foods made in New York State at Taste NY in the horticulture building.

Add to this, jugglers, characters street entertainer, fine arts and vendors from all over the state bringing their wares and talents to the fair’s many competitions, and you will soon realize that one day just isn’t enough!

NOTE: In addition to the Fair’s traditional free trams which run a continuous loop to get people around the fairgrounds, the Fair now operates the new Broadway Bubble Express, a fun way to get across a large portion of the 2019 Great New York State Fair.  The trains can carry about 18 people in its five cars and will run each day until 8 p.m. The cost is $3 per person and for an additional $2, the kiddos can get a train whistle! There are also several trams available for those with mobility issues.
