The Chittenango Landing Canal Boat Museum, built in the mid-1980s, is a living testament to the importance of Chittenango Landing and how it related to the Erie Canal.

Through preservation, reproduction, construction and interpretation of the Chittenango Landing industrial complex, the museum provides the unique opportunity to learn of the construction and repair of canal boats as well as the social history of the Erie Canal era. It is also an interactive museum where visitors can learn the history not just through words and artifacts, but by being able to touch and experience the life of those living on the canal in the 19th century.
