Rich in history and culture, Auburn features national landmarks like the Harriet Tubman Home and William Seward House
Off the NY State Thruway I-90, the quaint city of Auburn is located just 35 miles west of Syracuse, right in the heart of the Finger Lakes Region of Upstate New York. A city rich in history, culture and arts, Auburn features several national treasures and historic sites like the William Seward House where William Seward, President Abraham Lincoln's Secretary of State, spearheaded the purchase of the Alaskan Territory from Russia in 1867, the Harriet Tubman Home that preserves the legacy of Harriet Tubman, one of the most famous abolitionists in American History, and the Williard Chapel which contains the only known complete and unatlered display of extremely beautiful Louis C. Tiffany and Tiffany Glass & Decoration Co. chapel windows.
Auburn’s downtown is a hub for business, entertainment, festivals and special events highlighted with the eye-catching Owasco River running through the center of it. With award-winning dining and craft breweries like Moro’s Table and the Prison City Pub & Brewery, Auburn is the perfect destination for a delicious mix of culture and cuisine.
Just a few miles to the north, the town of Weedsport was incorporated around the time of the Erie Canal and provides a good example of Erie Canal stone work, and additional attractions around Auburn include the Weedsport Speedway and the DIRT Hall of Fame and Classic Car Museum.
