While not as well-known as neighboring Breakneck Ridge or Storm King Mountain across the river, it provides hikers an extensive trail system while offering sweeping views of the river and neighboring peaks from rock outcrops. Its wooded summit at 1,420-foot is higher than both neighbors.
The mountain’s 6-mile loop begins at a less frequented trailhead on Route 9D and most of the ascent/descent is gradual, with just a few challenging spots.
