River to Ridge Trail
Connecting the Wallkill River and Shawangunk Ridge, the aptly named trail runs from the village of New Paltz to the beautiful 8,000-acre Mohonk Preserve.
Connecting the Wallkill River and Shawangunk Ridge, the aptly named trail runs from the village of New Paltz to the beautiful 8,000-acre Mohonk Preserve.
This 5.2-mile walkway meanders through farm fields and over gently rolling hills with the majestic Gunks (Shawangunk Mountains) as a backdrop. The trail is primarily used for walking, trail running and mountain biking.
The trail begins on the edge of the village of New Paltz just west of the Carmine Liberta on Route 299. The Springtown Road Trailhead offers a number of amenities that includes parking, a station for filling water bottles, a bicycle rental stand and a self-service bicycle repair stand.
