Often described as “upscale urban chic, this former capital of New York boasts three historic districts – the Stockade District uptown, the Midtown Neighborhood Broadway Corridor, and the Rondout-West Strand Historic District downtown – that are all listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Downtown Rondout Waterfront district is home to the Kingston Marina, a charming waterside promenade, award-winning restaurants, eclectic shops, art galleries and museums while Kingston Point Beach is a picturesque destination for swimming, picnicking and boat-launching.

Kingston’s uptown Stockade District features Revolutionary-era stone buildings and National Historic Landmarks will delight lovers of history and architecture. This thriving neighborhood is also host to contemporary restaurants, a variety of shops and boutiques, museums, galleries, music venues, farmers’ markets, festivals and more. Along the Broadway corridor, Kingston’s Midtown district’s highlights include the Ulster Performing Arts Center, Cornell Street Studios and Kingston’s award-winning brewery, Keegan Ales which also doubles as a restaurant and music venue.

Kingston hosts many popular annual events throughout the year, such as the O+ Festival, the Wall Street Jazz Festival, Irish, Greek, and Italian festivals, the Artists’ Soapbox Derby, Kayak Festival and Sinterklass. First Saturdays offer lively art gallery receptions each month that includes live music, open studio tours, theatrical performances, wine tastings, arts & cultural activities and more. During warmer months, the Night Market transforms the Rondout into a delightful European-inspired shopping mecca.
