A product of the ice age, Chenango Valley State Park boasts two kettle lakes, originating from when the last glacier retreated, leaving behind huge chunks of buried ice which melted to form the lakes and bog.

This 1,137-acre state park offers nearly 200 campsites for both tenters and RVer’s along with cabins available for rent.

Lively nature trails are a haven for birdwatchers, offering glimpses of woodpeckers, nut hatches, warblers and thrushes along woodland trails, while the lakes draw herons, ducks and kingfishers.

Other park amenities feature an 18-hole golf course, swimming beach, a boat launch with boat rentals, picnic tables, grills and pavilions, a playground and more. Along with golf and swimming, recreational activities include fishing, biking, hiking and sledding, skating and cross-country skiing in winter. Household pets are allowed but must be leashed.
