Probably the most famous of the Finger Lakes State Parks, Watkins Glen State Park is filled with stunning views, trails overlooking the magnificent gorge and paths that wind over and under mesmerizing waterfalls. Over two miles, the glen's stream descends 400 feet past 200-foot cliffs, generating 19 waterfalls along its course. The gorge path winds over and under the waterfalls and through the spray of Cavern Cascade.

Campers and day-visitors can enjoy the park’s Olympic-size pool, take advantage of scheduled summer tours through the gorge. The park has both tent and trailer sites, picnic facilities and excellent fishing in nearby Seneca Lake or Catherine Creek, which is renowned for its annual spring run of rainbow trout. Opened to the public in 1863, the park was privately run as a tourist resort until 1906, when it was purchased by New York State.
