Salmon River Falls Unique Area encompasses a sparkling 110-foot waterfall in a 3000-foot long gorge lined with steep cliffs. The lush and thick forest in this area includes sugar maple, red maple, American beech, yellow birch, black cherry, white ash and red oak.
A popular local destination for photos and picnics, the area trails (some only open seasonally) lead along the river bank or into the gorge.
Other improvements to the area are parking areas, wheelchair-accessible trails, and interpretive kiosks. The area is managed by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
